Catawba College’s baseball team secured a commanding victory over UVA Wise, winning 10-3 in the first game of a South Atlantic Conference series on March 15, 2024. The match took place at Newman Park in Salisbury, where Catawba remains unbeaten at home, improving their record to 8-0.

The Indians showcased a strong offensive performance, highlighted by home runs from players Matthew Connolly and Hunter Atkins. Connolly’s seventh home run of the season and Atkins’ third contributed to a total of six doubles hit by the team. Furthermore, Sam Hunter added to the excitement with a triple, while Jake Dunlap and Ty Hubbard each drove in two runs, further solidifying the team’s dominance.

On the mound, Colt Wilkins (4-1) benefited from the ample run support, allowing him to secure the win for Catawba. The pitching effort was crucial, as the team effectively limited UVA Wise’s scoring opportunities.
