PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed on Monday that offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo will continue to call plays for the team, dismissing any notion of a change. “No, I haven’t,” Sirianni stated when asked about the possibility of altering his coaching staff.

Sirianni emphasized that the coaching staff is always seeking solutions rather than assigning blame. “It’s just looking for answers,” he explained. He acknowledged the complexities of game performance, noting, “It’s every piece of the puzzle: coaching, playing, execution, scheme, everything. We’ve got to be better in all of those aspects.”

The Eagles suffered a disappointing defeat against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, where they initially built a commanding 21-point lead but ultimately lost the game 24-21. Following their early success, the Eagles failed to score for the remainder of the match. On their last eight possessions, they punted five times, missed a field goal, committed a turnover, and allowed the clock to run out at the end of the first half. This loss marks another underwhelming performance for an offense that has struggled throughout the season.

Despite criticism that the team may have eased off the offensive intensity, Sirianni defended the approach. “To go up 21-0… you’re trying to do everything you can to go up 28-0, you’re trying to do everything you can to go up 35-0,” he said. He asserted that the execution and play calling were stronger in the first half compared to the latter part of the game. “I think that we were still being aggressive to try to get as many points on the board as possible,” he added.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts echoed the team’s struggles, highlighting the need for improvement. “Overarching, we’ve got to find a way to finish the game, and we’ve got to find some consistency in what we do,” he remarked. Hurts pointed out the stark contrast between the two halves of the game, stating, “In the end, we didn’t play a complete game as a team, and it got us.”

As the Eagles prepare to face the Chicago Bears on Friday, they will be without rookie safety Andrew Mukuba, who sustained a fractured ankle during the game against the Cowboys. Mukuba is set to undergo surgery, and the timeline for his return remains uncertain, with the possibility of him missing the remainder of the season. Sirianni commented, “He’ll be out for some time and we’ll see. I’ll never put a timetable on a guy.”

In light of Mukuba’s injury, Sirianni expressed confidence in the depth of the roster. “We’ve got some good options there,” he noted, mentioning players like Michael Carter II, Sydney Brown, and Reed Blankenship. “It’s never just the 53 guys; it’s the 70 guys. You never know when those guys’ opportunity will come, and here we are.”

The status of cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, who is currently in concussion protocol, remains unclear. Meanwhile, Reed Blankenship is expected to play in the upcoming game against the Bears.

As the Eagles look to bounce back from their recent loss, the focus remains on refining their performance and ensuring a complete team effort moving forward.
