The Philadelphia Eagles have appointed Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator, following the departure of Kevin Patullo. The decision was announced on January 13, 2023, after the team was eliminated from the playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round. Although Patullo is no longer with the team, the door remains open for a potential role with the franchise in the future.

In a swift move, the Eagles commenced an extensive search for a replacement, evaluating numerous candidates, including notable names such as Mike McDaniel, Brian Daboll, Zac Robinson, Jim Bob Cooter, and Josh Grizzard. Ultimately, the team decided on Mannion, a former quarterbacks coach for the Green Bay Packers, who is just 33 years old and has quickly climbed the coaching ranks over the past three seasons.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni expressed his excitement regarding Mannion’s appointment. “I’m thrilled to have Sean Mannion on board as the new offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles,” Sirianni stated. He highlighted his intention to maintain an open mind throughout the selection process, aiming to identify the best fit for the team’s offensive needs.

Sirianni elaborated on the qualities that made Mannion stand out among the candidates. “It was quickly apparent in meeting with Sean that he is a bright young coach with a tremendous future ahead of him in this league. I was impressed by his systematic views on offensive football and his strategic approach,” he said. Mannion’s 11 years of experience in the NFL, working alongside some of the league’s top coaches, has equipped him with a significant depth of knowledge that Sirianni believes will be invaluable for the Eagles moving forward.

As the Eagles welcome Mannion and his wife, Megan, into their organization, attention now shifts to the team’s roster and preparations for the upcoming season. The franchise is focused on building a competitive team under Mannion’s guidance, as they look to rebound following their playoff exit. The upcoming season will be a critical test for both Mannion and the Eagles as they aim to improve their offensive performance and achieve greater success on the field.
