Knights of Saint Patrick Sponsors 51st Queens St. Patrick’s Parade
The 51st Queens County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade successfully took place on March 7, 2026, at Rockaway Beach, showcasing vibrant celebrations despite the often unpredictable Irish weather. The event was led by Grand Marshal Michele Cusack, the Chief Financial Officer at Northwell Health, one of the largest healthcare providers in the United States.
As part of the festivities, parade organizers acknowledged the generous support of the Knights of Saint Patrick, who contributed $2,500 to the annual parade. This significant donation was instrumental in funding a pre-parade breakfast at the Rockaway Beach Knights of Columbus hall, helping to establish a celebratory atmosphere for the day’s events.
The donation was presented by members of the Knights of Saint Patrick, including Chairman John F. Tully, former Grand Marshal Patrick McGowan, and Brian J. Sharkey, to Parade Chairman Michael A. Benn, who will serve as Grand Marshal for the upcoming New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in 2025. The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude for the Knights’ consistent support, which has played a crucial role in maintaining Irish cultural traditions in the region.
In this parade season, the Knights of Saint Patrick have made a remarkable impact, donating a total of $62,000 to various Irish cultural initiatives throughout Downstate New York. Their contributions have expanded this year to support 13 metropolitan St. Patrick’s Day parades, an increase from 11 in 2025. This expansion reflects the organization’s commitment to promoting Irish heritage and supporting community events.
Among the beneficiaries of the Knights’ funding are significant events such as the iconic New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which has celebrated Irish culture since 1762, and the Saint Patrick’s Day Foundation. Additionally, the New York Archdiocese and St. Patrick’s Cathedral received grants to help cover expenses for the pre-parade mass held at the Cathedral on March 17.
The continued support from the Knights of Saint Patrick highlights the importance of community involvement in preserving cultural traditions and fostering a sense of unity among Irish Americans. As the parade concluded, participants and spectators alike celebrated not only their heritage but also the spirit of generosity that underscores these cultural events.
