Messi Nears New Contract with Inter Miami After MLS Triumph
Lionel Messi is on the brink of finalizing a new contract with Inter Miami following his impressive performance in Major League Soccer (MLS). The Argentina captain recently clinched the 2025 MLS Golden Boot after scoring 29 goals in 28 regular-season games and providing 19 assists. According to renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the final details of Messi’s multiyear deal are being ironed out as his current contract is set to expire at the end of this year.
Messi joined Inter Miami in the summer of 2023, leaving Paris Saint-Germain, and has since become a pivotal figure in the club’s ambitions. As he gears up for a new contract, sources indicate that he remains “fully focused” on the project at Inter Miami, which aims to elevate its status in the MLS and beyond.
Transfer Buzz Surrounds Young Talents
In other transfer news, Real Madrid forward Endrick is reportedly attracting interest from Marseille for a potential loan move in January. The 19-year-old has yet to see any first-team action under coach Xabi Alonso this season, prompting speculation about his future. With the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Endrick is keen to gain playing time, and a move to Marseille could provide that opportunity, especially as the French club faces a shortage of forwards due to players departing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Meanwhile, Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is leaning towards a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window. Vlahovic is likely available for a reduced fee as his contract with Juventus is set to expire at the end of the season. Spurs are eager to bolster their attacking options, particularly with forwards Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani struggling with injuries.
Real Madrid is also preparing for the future by identifying potential defensive signings. According to talkSPORT, the club has compiled a shortlist featuring Marc Guéhi of Crystal Palace, Dayot Upamecano from Bayern Munich, and Ibrahima Konaté of Liverpool. All three defenders are out of contract in 2026, making them appealing targets for Madrid, who may pursue a free transfer similar to their recent acquisition of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Other Notable Rumors in the Transfer Market
The transfer market is buzzing with activity as clubs eye potential signings. Liverpool and Manchester City have entered the race to secure Ian Subiabre, an 18-year-old talent from River Plate. Additionally, Brazilian club Flamengo is preparing a contract offer for Paulo Dybala of Roma, who is set to become a free agent next summer.
Interest is also growing in Everton’s Vitaliy Mykolenko, although the club is reluctant to let him go unless a significant offer arrives. Meanwhile, Juventus is reportedly keen on acquiring Jonathan Clauss from Nice, indicating ongoing shifts and strategies as teams position themselves for the upcoming transfer window.
As the January transfer window approaches, clubs are actively seeking to strengthen their squads, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting period in football.
