The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has officially released the playoff brackets for the girls’ basketball tournament in Divisions I and II. Among the teams vying for success is the fourth-seeded Olmsted Falls, which seeks to secure its place in the final four for the fourth consecutive year.

In the first round, Olmsted Falls will host No. 33 Valley Forge on February 25. If the Bulldogs advance, they will face the winner of the matchup between No. 16 John Marshall and No. 15 Garfield Heights at Berea-Midpark. The Bulldogs have established a strong legacy in the postseason, having claimed five straight district titles and three consecutive regional championships. Notably, two of these regional titles were secured at Sandusky, which includes areas of Northwest Ohio. Last year’s regional was held at Medina, where Olmsted Falls triumphed over Massillon Washington and Uniontown Green.

Currently, Olmsted Falls boasts an impressive record of 18-4 overall and 13-1 in the Southwestern Conference. The Bulldogs concluded their regular season as the conference champions for the eighth time. Their momentum is palpable, as the team is riding a nine-game winning streak, with their latest victory coming in a narrow 42-40 win against Springboro on February 14.

Other Local Teams in the Playoffs

Alongside Olmsted Falls, several other teams from the area will compete in the playoffs. Avon, representing the Northeast 4 District, will travel to face No. 11 Lakewood in the first round. Meanwhile, 29th-seeded Amherst will challenge second-seed Brecksville-Broadview Heights on the road, and No. 10 North Ridgeville will host No. 13 Solon.

In Division I, Lorain stands out as the only local team and will take on the second-seeded Mentor, a rival from the Greater Cleveland Conference. Elyria, seeded 17th, will face No. 3 Massillon Jackson in its playoff game.

As the playoffs draw nearer, the excitement builds for Olmsted Falls and other local teams as they pursue their championship dreams. The upcoming contests promise intense competition, with teams eager to showcase their skills on the road to the finals.
