Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Status Uncertain Ahead of Week 8 Showdown
The status of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson remains uncertain ahead of the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Jackson, who has been sidelined for two games due to a hamstring injury, participated in a full practice on Friday, raising hopes for his return. However, reports indicate he was running the scout team, suggesting he may not be ready to take the field just yet.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Jackson’s participation in the scout team typically indicates that he is still a week away from returning to game action. This situation leaves the Ravens considering Tyler “Snoop” Huntley as their starting quarterback if Jackson is unable to play. Huntley has previously demonstrated his capability, having made 14 starts in his career, including a Pro Bowl nod, which gives the Ravens a semblance of confidence should Jackson remain out.
Should Huntley step in, it would mark a significant change for the Ravens. The coaching staff has opted to demote Cooper Rush, who struggled in his recent starts, tallying 251 yards with zero touchdowns and four interceptions. Huntley’s playing style bears some resemblance to Jackson’s, providing the Ravens with a better chance to maintain their competitive edge during this tough stretch.
For the Bears, this potential absence of Jackson could significantly impact their game strategy. The team is currently enjoying a four-game winning streak after a challenging start to the season. Chicago has faced its own injury struggles, particularly with key cornerbacks Kyler Gordon and Tyrique Stevenson out. Nevertheless, facing a backup quarterback like Huntley, rather than the dynamic Jackson, is viewed as a considerable advantage.
As both teams prepare for their upcoming match, the uncertainty surrounding Jackson’s availability adds an intriguing layer to the contest. While nothing is confirmed until the official inactive lists are released on Sunday, the indications suggest that the Ravens may have to navigate without their star quarterback once again. For Ravens fans, it is another anxious wait to see if their season can regain momentum, while Bears supporters may feel a renewed sense of optimism heading into the game.
