In a significant achievement for a local athlete, Shaun Dolac is now just one victory away from playing in the Super Bowl. With a chance to secure a spot in the championship, the Rams will face off against the Seattle Seahawks on January 28, 2024, at 18:30.
Dolac, a native of West Seneca, New York, has been a valuable asset to the Rams throughout the season, contributing in various ways. He has recorded 14 tackles in 17 games, a commendable achievement for an undrafted free agent. Rams head coach Sean McVay praised Dolac’s performance during training camp, highlighting his determination and skill.
From College Star to NFL Contender
Before joining the Rams, Dolac had an impressive collegiate career at the University at Buffalo. He led the nation in tackles in the 2024 season, amassing a remarkable 168 tackles, along with six sacks and five interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. His performance earned him a first-team All-America selection, marking a significant milestone as the first player in the program’s history to achieve this honor.
Coach McVay remarked on Dolac’s journey: “Shaun Dolac is a guy that personifies really, hey, we’re going to evaluate who we think is the best players, and it doesn’t matter whether you were drafted, what your salary is.” This ethos of meritocracy has been a cornerstone of the Rams’ approach, showcasing Dolac’s hard work and dedication.
The Path Ahead
As the Rams prepare for the NFC Championship Game, the stakes are high. A victory against the Seahawks would not only propel them to the Super Bowl but also solidify Dolac’s status as a rising star in the NFL. Fans and teammates alike are rallying around Dolac, who has become a symbol of perseverance and talent, overcoming the odds after entering the league as an undrafted player.
With the kickoff approaching, all eyes will be on Seattle, where Dolac’s journey continues. As he stands on the precipice of a potential Super Bowl appearance, his story serves as an inspiration to many aspiring athletes, proving that hard work and determination can lead to extraordinary achievements.
