The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has announced a significant increase in its fight night bonus structure, set to take effect during UFC 324 on March 16, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This new approach will see the UFC doubling its traditional bonuses and introducing additional incentives for fighters who achieve finishes during their bouts.

Previously, the UFC awarded four bonuses of $50,000 at each event: two for the top performers and one each for the athletes involved in the “fight of the night.” Under the revised structure, these bonuses will now be valued at $100,000. Additionally, every fighter who records a finish but does not win one of the $100,000 bonuses will receive a $25,000 reward.

The announcement of this new bonus structure comes after UFC CEO Dana White hinted at enhancements following a lucrative seven-year broadcast deal with Paramount Skydance Corp., valued at $7.7 billion. White shared details of the updated bonuses with Sports Business Journal, emphasizing the UFC’s commitment to rewarding its athletes more generously.

The UFC evaluates all bonus recipients internally at each event. In the past, the organization has occasionally awarded more than four bonuses depending on the quality of the fight card. White has also raised bonus amounts for special occasions, such as announcing $300,000 bonuses for UFC 300, scheduled for April 2024.

UFC 324 will be headlined by Justin Gaethje, who is among the organization’s all-time leaders in fight night bonuses, with a total of 14 throughout his career. The record for the most bonuses is held by former champion Charles Oliveira, who has achieved 21 bonuses.

This revamped bonus structure not only increases the financial rewards for athletes but also aims to enhance the excitement of fights within the Octagon by incentivizing finishes. The changes reflect the UFC’s ongoing evolution and its focus on elevating the sport of mixed martial arts.
