ADOR Files $30 Million Lawsuit Against NewJeans’ Danielle, Outrage Erupts
URGENT UPDATE: In a shocking turn of events, ADOR has filed a lawsuit against NewJeans member Danielle and her family, seeking an astonishing ₩43.1 billion KRW (approximately $30.0 million USD) in damages. This lawsuit, filed on December 30, 2023, has triggered a wave of backlash from fans and netizens.
The case has been assigned to the 31st Civil Division of the Seoul Central Court, the same court that previously handled the high-profile lawsuit involving HYBE and former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. The first hearing date has yet to be determined, leaving many anxiously awaiting developments.
As news broke, social media erupted with criticism of ADOR’s actions. Fans expressed their outrage with comments like, “Crazy company,” and “Dani, hwaiting!” Many questioned the integrity of the agency, stating, “How can younger people trust an agency when they are taking advantage of even top-tier girl groups?” Others voiced concerns over the fairness of a company taking legal action against an individual artist.
“They are ruining K-Pop. How is this fair…a company going against an individual?”
In tandem with the lawsuit, ADOR has confirmed the termination of Danielle’s contract, further complicating the situation for the rising star. Speculations have arisen about Danielle potentially joining another agency, THE BLACK LABEL, as the fallout continues.
Earlier this month, Lee Jin Ho, a prominent YouTuber, alleged that there were internal issues leading to Danielle’s ousting from HYBE. This revelation has sparked divided opinions among experts regarding whether NewJeans should issue an apology to their fanbase.
As ADOR’s abrupt changes within NewJeans, including what some are calling a “switch up,” come to light, the K-Pop community is left questioning the future of the group and the broader implications for the industry. Fans are rallying online, demanding accountability from ADOR and expressing their support for Danielle in this contentious situation.
This developing story continues to unfold, and many are watching closely as the legal proceedings begin. What happens next could shape the landscape of K-Pop for years to come.
