UPDATE: The Boulder Opera Company has just kicked off its highly anticipated 2023 season, captivating audiences with a vibrant array of performances designed to engage the entire community. Founded in 2012, this nonprofit organization is on a mission to make opera more accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

In an exciting opening event, Opera in the Park took place at the Boulder Bandshell, where local talent showcased highlights from opera’s most iconic works. This outdoor celebration marked the beginning of a season filled with passion, comedy, and timeless music.

Families are already enjoying the warmth and humor of Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, which is delighting audiences this November. Looking ahead, the company will present Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier in April, a poignant exploration of love, time, and transformation that promises to be a standout production.

Beyond the stage, the Boulder Opera Company’s impact is profound. Hundreds of residents from underserved Latino and Hispanic communities have benefited from free concerts. Thousands of students from Title I schools have been introduced to the world of opera through engaging educational programs, fostering a new generation of opera lovers.

As a nonprofit largely funded by donations, Boulder Opera relies on community support to sustain local artists and keep productions accessible. This year, the organization aims to raise $12,000 in unrestricted funds. These funds will support artist pay, expand bilingual programming, and increase community access for the upcoming 2026 season.

Their message is clear: “It only takes a little to make a big impact.”
