Parker Edwards, general manager at Mellow Mushroom, noted that customers have been navigating the construction zones. “Especially with what we’re doing out there right now, it’s kind of all changing and they get to see the work in progress that it is,” Edwards explained.

Some patrons may have to walk further than usual to access their favorite spots. “We definitely get a lot of people that are walking a few more blocks than they had to in the past to get down here,” Edwards said. “But we appreciate the commitment to make it to come see us.”

As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, local businesses like Dirty Boots are taking extra steps to prepare for the surge. Smith highlighted the importance of being ready for the busy shift ahead. “I like to sleep as much as I can,” he remarked. “Get as much rest as I absolutely can. I can’t be a zombie in here. I got to be able to be attentive and pay attention to what everybody wants and what everybody’s saying.”

Edwards shared that events like St. Patrick’s Day not only attract locals but also visitors from outside Augusta. “Anytime there’s a big event like this, and I think St. Patrick’s Day in Augusta is something that people want to go to,” he said. “It’s always nice getting to see some out-of-town people come in and kind of see what Augusta has to offer.”
