BREAKING: In a shocking upset, the Charlotte Hornets overwhelmed the Oklahoma City Thunder with a staggering 124-97 victory on Monday night, marking the Thunder’s worst loss of the season. Brandon Miller led the Hornets with an impressive 28 points, while Kon Knueppel contributed 23 points.

The defeat is a significant blow for the Thunder, who had been riding high at 30-7 and were previously undefeated against teams with losing records since November 19, 2024. This loss also represents the Thunder’s first game this season where they failed to break the 100-point mark, as they managed just 97 points—a season low.

Fans were left stunned as the Hornets took an early lead, surging to 21-9 before the Thunder managed to tie the game at 33 by the end of the first quarter. However, Charlotte regained control, heading into halftime with a commanding lead of 67-50.

Despite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scoring 21 points—his 108th consecutive game with at least 20 points—he struggled with his shooting, finishing at a dismal 33% (7 of 21). This marked the first time since the 2021-22 season that he has shot below 40% in consecutive games.

The Thunder, who had been 15.5-point favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook, became the first team in 35 seasons to lose by more than 20 points as a favorite of 15 or more. Their record of 45 straight wins against teams below .500 came to an abrupt end, leaving the defending NBA champions reeling after two consecutive losses.

Looking ahead, the Thunder will need to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next matchup, while the Hornets will aim to build on this momentum.

Stay tuned for updates as the implications of this shocking result unfold.
