Idaho Man Arrested for Bomb Threats to State Capitol and Business
UPDATE: An urgent situation has unfolded as an Idaho man, aged 58, was arrested for allegedly making bomb threats to the Idaho State Capitol and a local business in Pocatello. Law enforcement officials confirmed the arrest today, following a series of alarming calls made on October 8, 2025, that prompted immediate evacuations and heightened security measures.
Details emerged when the Pocatello Police Department responded to a property management company after receiving multiple threatening calls from the suspect, who claimed he would “blow them up.” The threats escalated shortly after, with employees at the Len B Jordan (LBJ) building at the Idaho State Capitol reporting similar threats from the same phone number around 10:35 a.m.
The male caller explicitly stated that a bomb was placed inside the Capitol building, leading to a swift evacuation of the area. Authorities acted quickly, and after thorough investigations, they confirmed that no explosives were found. However, the fear and tension among employees and visitors were palpable, as the threats disrupted normal operations at the Capitol.
The suspect was taken into protective custody on the same day. Fast-forward to October 14, investigators successfully matched his voice to recordings of the threats made to the Capitol. As a result, he was arrested on October 16 and booked into the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office jail on a felony charge for making false reports of explosives in public or private places.
Officials from the Idaho State Police expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts of the Pocatello Police Department and the Idaho Department of Administration, stating, “We appreciate the swift action that ensured public safety.”
As this investigation continues, the Idaho community is left grappling with the implications of such threats. It serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability that can arise in public spaces, prompting many to reflect on safety measures.
Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available. The situation is developing, and local authorities are continuing to monitor for any additional threats.
