URGENT UPDATE: A former East Grand Forks teacher, John Kinzler, has been ordered to stand trial on multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct, according to Polk County Court Administrator Jim O’Neill. This shocking development comes after allegations from several students regarding inappropriate conduct during the 1989-90 school year.

Kinzler, aged 30, faces a total of nine counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and nine counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. Reports indicate that five girls have accused him of inappropriately touching them, specifically by placing his hands on their buttocks. Further investigations revealed similar accusations from two additional girls.

Despite the serious nature of these charges, Kinzler has denied any wrongdoing. He has been released on his own recognizance under strict conditions, prohibiting him from contacting the students involved in the case. Kinzler continues to teach at Central Middle School, where he has also served as a girls’ basketball coach for seven years. However, he resigned from that coaching role on October 22.

No trial date has been set yet, but O’Neill has indicated that it is unlikely to occur before January. This case has not only raised significant concerns within the East Grand Forks community but has also prompted discussions about student safety in schools.

As this story develops, the implications of Kinzler’s charges will be felt across the educational landscape, making it crucial for authorities to ensure a safe environment for all students. Stay tuned for updates as this situation evolves.
