Keegan Shackford Named CAA Special Teams Player After OT Win
UPDATE: In a thrilling showdown, Keegan Shackford of William & Mary has been named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week following his pivotal role in the Tribe’s 30-27 overtime victory against Campbell on Saturday. Shackford’s performance was nothing short of remarkable, as he successfully converted all three field-goal attempts, including a dramatic game-tying 38-yard kick with just 1 second left in regulation.
Shackford’s contributions were crucial in the tight match, having previously made kicks from 41 and 47 yards. This achievement marks his sixth consecutive game with a field goal, solidifying his position as a key player for the Tribe this season. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) has announced that both teams will forfeit their upcoming scheduled games, and their opponents, Bridgewater and Roanoke, will also conclude their seasons early. The ODAC stated that the incident “does not uphold the standards of sportsmanship, respect, and conduct expected within the conference.”

On the women’s side, Norfolk State guard Jasha Clinton garnered the MEAC Player of the Week title after averaging 20 points per game in the Spartans’ strong start. Meanwhile, Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Kaliya Perry earned the Rookie of the Week honor with her notable performance, averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds.
