Kern County Students Showcase Artistic Talent at Bakersfield College

The art community in Kern County is on full display as students from the Kern County High School District showcased their work at Bakersfield College. This exhibition, held at the Jones Art Gallery, highlights the remarkable talent of young artists and underscores the importance of artistic expression in education.

Spotlight on Emerging Talent

According to Angel Lesnikowski, Art Professor and Director of the Jones Art Gallery, the exhibition “highlights how strong our art community is.” Visitors to the gallery are greeted by a diverse array of artworks, created entirely by high school students. The pieces were curated by art teachers from various schools, who selected students based on their excellence in specific artistic mediums.

Among the impressive works displayed, a notable piece by Jordyn Dutto earned the title of “Best of Sculpture.” Dutto expressed her belief in the educational power of art, stating, “Art has the power to educate and inform, that is the goal of my collection.”

The exhibition provides a vital platform for students to display their creativity and hard work. Each student featured had their artwork chosen by their respective art teachers, ensuring that only the finest examples of student talent were showcased. Other notable pieces included Mariah Berrelleza’s work titled “The Past Surrounds Her,” showcasing the diverse themes and techniques explored by these young artists.
