The Knoxville Girls Wrestling Squad has made significant progress in its second year, achieving noteworthy milestones and showcasing improved performance. The team, known as the Panthers, recorded an impressive dual meet record of 18-7 this season, secured victory in a meet, and qualified two wrestlers for the prestigious State Meet.

Under the guidance of Coach Doug Hatch, the Panthers demonstrated remarkable growth in their confidence and skills. Hatch stated, “We beat a lot of rated kids this year, won a tournament, and finished 2nd in several others.” The team’s development is reflected in their records, with three wrestlers achieving winning records last season, compared to ten this year.

Key Achievements and Future Prospects

The Panthers’ competitive spirit was evident throughout the season as they faced tougher opponents. Coach Hatch noted that the girls wrestled with increased confidence, which played a crucial role in their success. Winning tournaments and consistently placing well in competitions contributed to a positive atmosphere within the team.

Despite the impending graduation of four key seniors—Serenity Turner, Cally Landis, Andie Branson, and Alyssa McCreery—the future remains bright for the Knoxville Girls Wrestling Squad. Coach Hatch emphasized that many of the remaining wrestlers are young and have two or even three seasons left to develop their skills further.

As the season wraps up, the Panthers can celebrate their achievements while looking ahead to the opportunities that lie ahead. The foundation built during this second year positions the team for continued success in future competitions.
