UPDATE: The Utah Mammoth continue their impressive run, securing a 6-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday night. Logan Cooley, the standout rookie, scored twice within the first 3:29 of the game, propelling the Mammoth to their sixth consecutive win.

In a stunning start, Cooley opened the scoring just 56 seconds into the game, deftly backhanding the puck out of midair past Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson. The former University of Minnesota star then added his second goal on a power play at the 3:29 mark, taking advantage of a slashing penalty against Minnesota’s Yakov Trenin.

The Mammoth surged to a 3-0 lead less than two minutes later when Nick Schmaltz netted his sixth goal of the season just shy of the five-minute mark. The explosive offense set a tone for the night, captivating fans and creating an electric atmosphere.

However, the Wild fought back, with veteran Marcus Johansson scoring twice to bring Minnesota within striking distance. Johansson’s first goal came with 4:21 left in the first period, a powerful one-timer from Zeev Buium. He struck again late in the second period, capitalizing on a power play opportunity to narrow the gap to 3-2.

As the third period progressed, JJ Peterka extended Utah’s lead to 4-2 with a goal at 6:23 remaining. Schmaltz then scored his second goal of the night, further solidifying the Mammoth’s dominance with a 5-2 advantage. Notably, Schmaltz has now tallied seven goals in the last five games, showcasing his scoring prowess.

Utah goalie Karel Vejmelka was instrumental in the win, making 32 saves throughout the match. In the final moments, John Marino sealed the victory with an empty-netter at 5.1 seconds remaining.

The Mammoth will aim to extend their winning streak to seven games when they face the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. As the team continues to build momentum, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how far this winning streak can go.
