BREAKING NEWS: Logan Paul has just made headlines after selling his one-of-a-kind Pikachu Illustrator Pokémon card for an astounding $16.5 million at auction. The auction closed early this morning, at 1:14 AM ET, marking a monumental moment in the collectibles market.

The winning bidder, AJ Scaramucci, founder of Solari Capital and son of former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, revealed his plans for the card during a live stream with Paul. “The real story is that I’m on a planetary treasure hunt,” Scaramucci announced, sharing ambitions to acquire a T. rex fossil and the Declaration of Independence, among other treasures.

This sale not only sets a new record but also highlights the explosive growth of the Pokémon card market. The Pikachu Illustrator card, one of only 41 ever distributed and the sole card graded at the highest quality by collectibles company PSA, has been dubbed “one of the Holy Grails of the collectibles industry” by Goldin Auctions.

Paul originally purchased the card in July 2021 for $5.275 million, meaning he profited significantly from this latest sale. During the live stream, Paul emphasized the emotional connection he had with the card, stating, “Goodbye my friend 😢 What a privilege it’s been to be the owner of the greatest collectible in the world.”

Adding to the card’s allure, it came with a diamond-encrusted chain valued at $75,000. Paul famously wore the card during his WWE debut at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, further cementing its cultural significance.

The market for collectible cards has surged in popularity, particularly among Gen Z, with rare items fetching tens of thousands of dollars. Some collectors are even prioritizing Pokémon cards over traditional investments like stocks.

As the news of this sale spreads, collectors and fans alike are eagerly watching the evolving landscape of collectibles, where high-stakes auctions are becoming increasingly common. With major players like Paul and Scaramucci in the game, the future of collectible trading looks more exciting than ever.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story, as the world of collectibles continues to break records and capture imaginations.
