Major Traffic Disruptions in Boulder County: Key Updates for Nov. 1-7

URGENT UPDATE: Boulder County is facing significant traffic disruptions with multiple construction projects set to impact travel between November 1 and November 7. Residents and commuters are urged to prepare for delays and detours across key routes.

The most pressing issue is on 28th Street, where improvements between Pearl and Iris will temporarily relocate the northbound RTD stop serving routes 205 and BOLT to just south of the Valmont intersection. This change will remain in effect until December 31, causing potential disruptions for daily commuters.

Additionally, starting today, crews will begin replacing the bridge over Fourmile Canyon Creek on 19th Street. This project includes constructing a crucial bike and pedestrian underpass, but it necessitates a full closure of northbound 19th Street between Sumac and Upland. Vehicle and RTD services will be detoured via Quince, with an expected completion date of April 1, 2024.

A waterline replacement project is also underway on 63rd Street, affecting traffic from Jay to Valmont. While business and residential access will be maintained, the street will be closed to through traffic until April 1. Residents should plan alternative routes to avoid delays.

In addition, milling and paving operations on Colo. 7 are anticipated to continue through late October, with completion set for December 15. Expect alternating double-lane closures between 28th Street and Cherryvale Road from 7 a.m. to midnight on weekdays.

Boulder County officials are also addressing infrastructure needs with a culvert replacement on Sugarloaf Road at Betasso Road. This project will require lane closures and the installation of a temporary three-way traffic signal, leading to possible travel delays. Access to Betasso Preserve will remain available throughout the work, which is expected to last into November.

Meanwhile, the City of Boulder is conducting a waterline replacement impacting 63rd Street, Andrus Road, and 62nd Street. This project will restrict access between Jay and Valmont until February, leading to significant traffic changes in the area.

In Erie, the Prince Lake Dam rehabilitation at 111th Street and Flatiron Meadows Boulevard is ongoing and will continue through March 2026. While no lane closures are planned, drivers may experience brief delays as work trucks enter and exit the site.

Additionally, lane closures for a traffic signal installation project at Erie Parkway and Glacier Drive will occur on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through December.

Weld County is fully closing WCR 1.5 and WCR 3 for maintenance until November 26, resulting in around-the-clock closures that may affect travel plans.
