Man Arrested for Shooting During Hartford Road Rage Incident
UPDATE: In a dramatic turn of events, police have arrested a man following a shooting connected to a road rage incident in Hartford on October 12, 2023. Just before 8:40 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire near Park and Washington Streets, where they discovered a driver with gunfire damage to their vehicle.
Authorities confirmed that the driver called for help after the violent confrontation escalated. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this alarming incident, but the situation raised significant concerns about public safety on Hartford streets.
Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department stated that a description of the suspect’s vehicle was rapidly disseminated to nearby police units. The swift response from the Hartford Police Violent Crimes Unit and the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force led to the identification and apprehension of the suspect.
The arrested individual, identified as 30-year-old Lorenzo Dunn of Hartford, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Inside Dunn’s vehicle, police reportedly found a firearm along with narcotics. In a further development, it was revealed that Dunn had an outstanding warrant for an earlier assault involving a gun from earlier this year.
Dunn now faces multiple charges, including criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and illegal discharge of a firearm. Additional charges include criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and possession of narcotics with the intent to sell.
This incident underscores the growing concerns regarding road rage and gun violence in urban areas, prompting community discussions about safety and prevention measures. As the investigation continues, local residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Authorities are expected to hold a press conference to provide further updates on this developing story. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
