UPDATE: Minneapolis residents brace for a week of mixed weather, with a significant shift to rain and cooler temperatures starting late tonight. The National Weather Service forecasts a warm start with highs near 63 degrees, but conditions are expected to deteriorate as rain arrives after 1 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023.

Tonight, enjoy the last moments of clear skies with temperatures dropping to a chilly 43 degrees. However, prepare for a 60% chance of rain starting after midnight, with new precipitation amounts potentially reaching between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. This rain will continue into Tuesday, when the likelihood increases to 70%, disrupting the calm autumn weather many in Minneapolis had hoped to enjoy.

As the week unfolds, the rain won’t let up. Tuesday night presents another 50% chance of precipitation, keeping temperatures consistently cool in the low 40s at night. Daytime highs will struggle to reach the low 50s, creating a chilly atmosphere that will require layers for outdoor plans.

The gloomy forecast does offer a brief respite on Wednesday, when conditions are expected to improve slightly. A partly sunny day with highs around 53 degrees will provide a much-needed break from the rain. However, this won’t last long—by Thursday, expect a return to partly sunny skies but with daytime highs still lingering around 52 degrees and nighttime lows dipping into the 30s.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Minneapolis should see partly sunny conditions on Saturday, with highs near 53 degrees and light winds from the west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

For anyone planning outdoor activities, be sure to check the latest updates and forecasts on the National Weather Service website to stay informed about any changes. The shifting weather patterns highlight the need for residents to prepare for rain and cooler temperatures in the days ahead. Stay tuned for more urgent weather updates as the situation develops.
