Provo Man, 32, Charged with 12 Felonies for CSAM Distribution
UPDATE: A 32-year-old man from Provo has been charged with a shocking dozen felonies after allegedly distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to an undercover police officer. This urgent case highlights growing concerns over the exploitation of minors in online spaces.
Authorities report that Josue Daniel McBride was arrested on November 10, 2025, following a sting operation initiated by the Lehi Police Department. McBride faces multiple charges, including two counts of enticing a minor (second-degree felony), four counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor (first-degree felony), and five counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor (second-degree felony), along with one count of distributing pornographic material (third-degree felony). He is currently being held without bail in the Utah County Jail.
The investigation began when an undercover officer created a post on the social media platform Reddit, posing as an adult male with a 13-year-old nephew. The post used emojis known to indicate sexual attraction to minors, and it quickly drew a direct message from McBride, who also referred to CSAM using similar emojis. The conversation escalated to a disturbing exchange on another messaging platform where McBride expressed his interest in the “early teens” and requested explicit photos.
Court documents reveal that McBride went so far as to send videos of naked children engaging in sexual acts. He allegedly offered to send videos in exchange for photographs of the undercover officer’s nephew, demonstrating a chilling willingness to engage in criminal behavior. This alarming trend of online exploitation emphasizes the critical need for vigilance in monitoring digital interactions.
Detectives apprehended McBride as he exited his workplace, underscoring the swift action taken by law enforcement to combat these heinous acts. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers children face online and the importance of reporting any suspected child exploitation.
If you suspect abuse or exploitation, report it immediately to law enforcement or contact the ICAC Tip Line at (801) 281-1211.
This case continues to develop, and the community is urged to remain aware of the signs of online exploitation and report suspicious activities. As the legal proceedings unfold, McBride will face serious scrutiny regarding his actions and their implications for child safety in the digital age.
