BREAKING: Skoda’s design team has just unveiled a stunning reimagining of its classic 1000 MBX, showcasing what this rare vehicle could look like with the brand’s modern design language. The project, completed in just four weeks, is part of Skoda’s enticing “Icons Get a Makeover” series, and is generating excitement among auto enthusiasts worldwide.

The original 1000 MBX, which debuted in 1966, is one of only 1,403 units ever produced before its discontinuation in 1969. Skoda’s latest concept adds a futuristic twist to this classic two-door coupe, retaining its iconic boxy shape while incorporating modern elements like rear-hinged doors inspired by the Mazda RX-8. This electric concept car is purely a design exercise, with no plans for production.

The exterior design is led by Skoda’s Antti Savio, while the interior is crafted by David Stingl. Together, they have infused the concept with state-of-the-art features, including a height-adjustable air suspension and a striking glass-covered oval dashboard. Although this vehicle will never hit showrooms, it serves as a thrilling glimpse into the brand’s creative potential.

Skoda’s revival of the 1000 MBX pays homage to its heritage while also drawing parallels to other retro-futuristic designs, notably the Nissan IDx. The compact coupe, about the size of the last Audi TT, effectively marries past and future, captivating audiences with its bold design.

This new concept not only highlights Skoda’s innovative spirit but also continues to spark interest in the brand’s upcoming models, such as the large electric wagon known as Vision O, set to debut in the coming years. As Skoda fans eagerly anticipate these developments, the design team’s imaginative projects remind us of the rich history and future possibilities of automotive design.

Stay tuned for more updates on Skoda’s fascinating design endeavors, as they continue to captivate car lovers around the globe.
