Thousand Oaks Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing
UPDATE: A peaceful Thousand Oaks neighborhood was rocked by violence this morning as 26-year-old Ryan Goldstein faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, following a horrific family disturbance. The incident unfolded on November 9, 2023, at about 10:32 a.m., when deputies were called to the 2500 block of Hickory Wood Lane after reports of a dispute.
As law enforcement officers arrived, tensions escalated rapidly. Witnesses reported that Goldstein violently resisted arrest, striking one deputy in the face, which led to a minor injury. Another deputy sustained a hand injury during the chaotic confrontation.
The situation turned even more alarming when police entered the residence and discovered Goldstein’s mother with a stab wound to her back, along with multiple lacerations on her face and head. Emergency medical services treated her on-site before transporting her to Los Robles Hospital, where it was confirmed that her injuries were not life-threatening.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Goldstein had fled the scene after allegedly stabbing his mother multiple times. Detectives from the East County Major Crimes Bureau took over the investigation, recovering the weapon used in the attack.
Goldstein has been charged under several counts, including 664/187(a) PC – Attempted Murder, 69(a) PC – Resisting a Peace Officer, and 243(c)(1) PC – Battery Against a Peace Officer Causing Injury. Following medical treatment, he was booked into custody, with his arraignment scheduled for November 12 at 1:30 p.m.
In an effort to ensure community safety, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has announced a reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of additional suspects involved. The reward is up to $1,000, and tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 800-222-TIPS (8477). The department emphasizes that every call is confidential and aims to encourage witnesses to report any information without fear.
This shocking incident has left the Thousand Oaks community reeling, underscoring the urgent need for safety and vigilance. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of the situation to come forward.
