Trump Receives Urgent Military Options for Venezuela Operations
BREAKING: Senior military officials have just presented President Trump with urgent military options for potential operations in Venezuela. This development comes as tensions escalate and the White House prepares for possible strikes on land.
Multiple sources confirm that during a critical meeting at the White House on Wednesday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine briefed the president about the updated military strategies for the coming days. However, no final decision has been made yet, according to two sources speaking to CBS News.
Officials did not provide immediate comments regarding these discussions. A Pentagon spokesperson declined to elaborate, heightening the already intense speculation surrounding U.S. actions in the region.
The U.S. intelligence community has played a crucial role in providing information for these potential operations. Notably absent from the White House discussions was Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who is returning from an overseas trip. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is currently attending the G7 Summit in Canada.
In a related development, the USS Gerald Ford carrier strike group has recently entered the U.S. Southern Command‘s area of responsibility, a primary combat unit overseeing operations in the Caribbean and South America. The Ford now joins a powerful fleet comprising destroyers, warplanes, and special operations assets already positioned in the region.
Over the past two months, the U.S. military has conducted strikes against at least 21 vessels allegedly engaged in drug trafficking from South America to the U.S. These operations have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 80 smugglers, with only two survivors being repatriated to their home countries of Ecuador and Colombia. The individual released in Ecuador was found to have no evidence of wrongdoing, prompting his release.
As military options for Venezuela remain on the table, this situation continues to develop rapidly, and the world watches closely. What actions the U.S. will take next will be pivotal not only for Venezuela but also for regional stability in South America.
