BREAKING: A small private plane crashed in Salem County, NJ, on Saturday morning, prompting immediate rescue efforts by the Delaware State Police. The incident occurred at approximately 11:20 AM, with reports of the downed aircraft leading emergency teams to the area near Rainbow’s End Farm and Airport off Route 540 in Mannington Township.

Rescue teams quickly mobilized, utilizing drone technology to locate the crash site in a creek that flows into the Salem River. The plane was found partially submerged, complicating rescue operations. Helicopters from both the New Jersey State Police and Delaware State Police were deployed to assist.

At around 1:30 PM, the Delaware State Police successfully hoisted two individuals—a pilot and a passenger—from the wreckage using a helicopter rescue system. Both victims had become trapped in mud surrounding the crash site, underscoring the urgency of the operation.

The Delaware State Police Aviation Section, in collaboration with the Delaware Air Rescue Team, confirmed the successful rescue via a post on social media. They emphasized the critical training and teamwork required to perform under such high-pressure situations:

“Behind every rescue is a team trained to perform under pressure. Today, our Delaware State Police Aviation Section worked with the Delaware Air Rescue Team to save lives after a plane crash in New Jersey.”

One of the rescued individuals was airlifted to Christiana Hospital in Delaware for medical attention. The conditions of both victims remain undisclosed as authorities continue to assess the situation.

This incident raises pressing questions about aviation safety and emergency response protocols in the region. Stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available.
