Conservatives Threaten 2026 Tax Revolt Over Minnesota Fraud Claims
Several prominent conservatives on the social media platform X have declared intentions to refuse paying taxes in 2026, citing alleged fraud related to childcare funding in Minnesota. These claims follow a video posted earlier this month by independent journalist and YouTuber Nick Shirley, which showed several daycare centers in Minneapolis appearing vacant during weekday hours. This report has fueled accusations of fraud, particularly as these centers have received millions in federal funding.
In addition to the childcare allegations, Minnesota is currently facing broader fraud investigations. Numerous individuals, including members of the local Somali community, have been accused and charged with defrauding the government of funds designated for crucial services, such as child nutrition and housing for vulnerable citizens.
The sentiment against taxation has gained traction among conservative figures. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., expressed her frustration on X, stating, “Almost every Trump voter I see on X is so fed up they are planning a 2026 tax revolt. And rightfully so! It’s because Americans work their a—- off, barely make ends meet, and the government consistently gives their hard-earned tax dollars to foreign countries, foreign wars, and foreigners the U.S. government has brought/allowed into America!”
Conservative commentator Graham Allen echoed similar sentiments, urging Americans to halt tax payments until corruption is addressed. “THE WHOLE COUNTRY SHOULD STOP PAYING TAXES UNTIL THE CORRUPTION ENDS!!” he declared on X, advocating for a direct approach to combat perceived governmental issues.
Another notable voice in this conversation is Savanah Hernandez, a contributor for Turning Point USA, who stated she would refuse to pay taxes this year. In her post, she expressed her intention to publicize any repercussions from the IRS, arguing, “I’m not paying for it anymore.” Hernandez criticized government spending priorities, particularly in relation to the Pentagon, which she noted has failed multiple audits, and the apparent prioritization of immigrants for social services.
The discussions on social media reflect a growing frustration among conservatives regarding government spending and alleged mismanagement of funds. One user resonated with Hernandez’s comments, emphasizing support for the tax revolt until significant accountability and transparency in government spending are achieved.
As the 2026 tax season approaches, the implications of these sentiments could lead to widespread actions among conservative constituents. The situation highlights a significant intersection of political activism and financial responsibility, as individuals weigh their frustrations against their civic duties.
