Jane Austen enthusiasts around the globe marked the esteemed author’s 250th birthday on December 16, 2025, with a series of celebrations. Events took place in her home village of Chawton, England, featuring a church service, guided tours, and performances, while fans also participated from afar through a virtual party.

In Chawton, the iconic Jane Austen’s House served as a focal point for the day’s festivities. One notable event was the Yuletide Jane Austen Birthday Ball held in Bath, a city where Austen lived for five years. This grand ball served as the culmination of numerous costumed events staged in the city throughout the year.
