Her first public appearance occurred in November 2022 during an intercontinental ballistic missile launch, where she was seen beside her father, dressed in a white puffer coat. State media referred to her as his “respected” or “most beloved daughter,” but notably did not disclose her name at that time. It is believed that her name was revealed through comments made by Dennis Rodman, the former U.S. basketball star, who met Kim in 2013 and mentioned holding the child.

The question of succession has historical roots, as Kim Jong Un himself was designated as a successor early in his life. Although he is believed to be in his early 40s, there are no current indications of an imminent transition. Reports indicate he may have other children, including a presumed son born in 2010 and another child born in February 2017, though these have not been publicly confirmed.
