Turning Point USA Backs JD Vance for 2028 Presidential Bid

Turning Point USA has announced its intention to support Vice President JD Vance in a potential presidential campaign for 2028. This revelation came from Erika Kirk, the current CEO of the organization, during her appearance on the Megyn Kelly Show. Kirk stated that there are plans “in the works” to rally behind Vance should he decide to run.

Erika Kirk took over leadership of Turning Point USA following the tragic death of her husband, Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on September 10 while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. In her remarks, she recalled one of their last discussions about how committed Charlie was to supporting Vance’s potential candidacy for the presidency in 2028.

In her interview, Erika Kirk emphasized the importance of focusing on immediate electoral challenges, stating, “Let’s start with the midterms before we start jumping to ’28.” She acknowledged the work done to support former President Donald Trump, highlighting her late husband’s efforts in securing Trump’s presidency.

Earlier this year, Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, expressed confidence in Vance as a viable presidential candidate. “I think JD Vance would be a great nominee… if he decides he wants to do that,” Rubio remarked in an interview with Lara Trump. He praised Vance’s performance as vice president and noted their close friendship.

Trump himself has previously described a potential ticket of Vance and Rubio as “unstoppable” for the 2028 election. He stated, “We have JD,” referring to Vance, and added, “Marco is great,” further indicating his support for their potential collaboration.

Despite the excitement surrounding his name in the presidential conversation, Vance has made it clear that his focus remains on the upcoming 2026 midterms. In a recent interview with Sean Hannity, he stated, “We’re going to win the midterms, we’re going to do everything that we can to win the midterms, and then after that, I’m going to sit down with the president of the United States and talk to him about it.”

Vance acknowledged that he has contemplated his future in politics, but he insists that fulfilling his current duties remains his priority. He noted, “I try to put it out of my head and remind myself the American people elected me to do a job right now and my job is to do it.”
