The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed significant military activity in 2025, launching a total of 20,900 attacks across various fronts. This comprehensive offensive resulted in the deaths of approximately 2,100 Hamas terrorists, according to newly released military statistics. The IDF’s intelligence Unit 504, which specializes in covert operations, interrogated 3,100 terrorists throughout the year, providing critical insights into ongoing threats.

Key Operations and Statistics

Among the interrogated individuals, 1,600 were held in Israeli detention centers, while 1,500 were interrogated on-site immediately after capture. Field interrogations are particularly challenging, as they occur in unstable environments where detainees may be physically and emotionally compromised. Nevertheless, these operations can yield vital intelligence, helping to disrupt potential attacks and locate high-ranking terrorist leaders, as well as recover dangerous weapons.

The IDF’s offensive actions were heavily focused on Gaza, where it conducted 19,530 strikes and eliminated significant figures within Hamas, including four brigade-level commanders and 14 battalion-level commanders. The military noted that the only remaining brigade commander from before the current conflict is Az al-din al-Hadad, the former commander of Gaza City.

In Lebanon, the IDF reported approximately 380 Hezbollah terrorists killed as a result of around 950 attacks. The IDF also stated that Hezbollah violated the 2024 ceasefire nearly 1,920 times, although the nature of these violations varied in severity. In the West Bank, the IDF killed around 230 terrorists and arrested 7,400 Palestinians, with only 1,190 linked to Hamas. This raises questions about the broader security implications and the actual threat posed by those detained.

Financial and Operational Insights

The IDF’s operations have also had a financial dimension, as it confiscated NIS 16,480,000 from Palestinian terrorists in the West Bank. Additionally, the IDF conducted targeted aerial operations against the Houthis in Yemen, completing 20 missions that struck 230 targets. These engagements included repeat strikes on previously targeted locations as the Houthis attempted to conduct repairs.

The human cost of these operations was significant for the IDF, with 91 soldiers killed and 821 seriously wounded in 2025. This number reflects a decrease from the preceding years, indicating a potential shift in the intensity or nature of the conflict. In terms of support infrastructure, the IDF Home Front Command provided 1,500 new mini-safe-houses and renovated approximately 200 larger bomb shelters to enhance civilian safety.

In total, 306,830 reservists were mobilized during the year, underscoring the scale of the IDF’s military commitment. The statistics reflect a year of intense military engagement for Israel, shaping ongoing discussions about security and military strategy in the region.
