A warming trend is set to envelop San Diego County on Thursday and Friday, with daytime temperatures expected to reach near-normal levels, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). On Thursday, coastal areas will see highs between 67 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit, while inland regions will range from 71 to 74. The valleys can expect temperatures from 71 to 76, the mountains will reach 67 to 74, and the deserts could soar to 85 to 89 degrees.

Following this brief warming, the region will experience a dip in temperatures as a cooler system approaches over the weekend. The NWS predicts gusty winds will accompany the change, particularly on Sunday afternoon and evening. Wind gusts exceeding 30 mph are likely in mountain areas, deserts, and passes.

Temperature Fluctuations Ahead

Meteorologists note that the coming days will showcase temperature fluctuations, akin to gentle ocean swells. Following the warm spell, temperatures are projected to briefly fall below average, only to rebound above normal once again by next week. Early next week, residents can anticipate a return of gradual warming, complemented by periods of weak offshore flow.

Despite the cooler weather expected this weekend, the system bringing these changes is anticipated to remain dry, with no rain or storms expected in the immediate area. Residents are advised to brace for windy conditions as they prepare for the weekend.

The NWS continues to monitor these developments, providing updates as needed to keep the public informed of changing weather patterns.
