URGENT UPDATE: A significant accident occurred on the Suncoast Parkway in Spring Hill, Florida, as a car crashed into a road ranger truck just after 7:25 PM on Friday night. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that the road ranger was assisting a vehicle with a flat tire near mile marker 46 when the collision happened.

The road ranger was “slow rolling” behind a vehicle towing a trailer, providing support as a friend awaited with a replacement tire. While the ranger’s emergency lights were activated, a 2025 Volkswagen Atlas approached from behind in the outside lane. In a sudden turn of events, the car veered off the road and struck the ranger’s truck.

The driver of the Volkswagen sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, the road ranger emerged from the incident uninjured. Both vehicles suffered major damage; images from the scene reveal that airbags deployed in both the Volkswagen and the ranger’s truck.

FHP officials confirmed that the driver of the Volkswagen was issued a failure to move over ticket due to the circumstances surrounding the accident. This incident highlights the critical importance of adhering to road safety protocols, especially when emergency vehicles are present.

As authorities continue to investigate the incident, drivers on the Suncoast Parkway are reminded to exercise caution and remain vigilant for roadside assistance vehicles. Stay tuned for further updates as details develop.
