Chili’s Confirms Return of Skillet Queso Amid Fan Uproar
URGENT UPDATE: In a surprising turn of events, Chili’s has confirmed the return of its beloved Skillet Beef Queso, just weeks after removing it from the menu. Fans of the iconic dish are celebrating following the announcement made on social media on Monday.
Chili’s, based in Dallas, admitted to its misstep, stating, “OKAY WE HEAR YOU and we hate when y’all are mad at us. We’re working on bringing Skillet Queso back to Chili’s very soon.” The chain’s response has sparked widespread joy among queso enthusiasts, with one fan exclaiming, “This just saved my marriage!”
The reversal comes after a significant backlash when Chili’s replaced the Skillet Beef and White Skillet Quesos with a new Southwestern Queso earlier this month. This decision led to a cheese-fueled social media uprising, with fans expressing their discontent over the change. Initially, Chili’s noted that the skillet quesos accounted for only 1% of sales, and aimed to introduce a more appealing and higher-quality option.
Chili’s had invested nearly two years developing the Southwestern Queso recipe, which received positive feedback from around 70% of consumers. However, social media sentiment sharply contradicted this data, as fans voiced their strong preference for the original Skillet Beef Queso.
The brand teased the announcement in response to a comment pleading for “justice for skillet queso,” promising that “justice is coming.” According to Chili’s, both the Skillet Beef Queso and the Southwestern Queso will coexist on the menu, with the classic recipe returning just in time for the holidays. However, the White Skillet Queso will not be making a comeback.
“There is room for two baddies on the menu,” Chili’s noted in a reply to an enthusiastic supporter of the Southwestern version. This decision has been confirmed to the Dallas Morning News.
Chili’s hinted that the Skillet Beef Queso will return before the holidays, although an exact date has yet to be announced. The fan-driven campaign for the Skillet Queso highlights the power of customer feedback in the fast-food industry.
Meanwhile, the Original Chicken Crispers, another long-standing menu item, will not be returning at this time, leaving a small but loyal fan base still hoping for their favorite dish’s revival. The ongoing dialogue between Chili’s and its customers indicates a growing trend in the restaurant industry where consumer preferences play a pivotal role in menu decisions.
As fans eagerly await the Skillet Queso’s return, the hashtag #JusticeForSkilletQueso is trending, encouraging even more voices to join the conversation. This unexpected turn of events underscores how important beloved menu items are to the culinary landscape and the emotional connections they foster among diners.
Stay tuned for further updates as Chili’s prepares to roll out the Skillet Beef Queso once again, promising to bring joy back to queso lovers everywhere.
