Ford Recalls 163K Bronco SUVs Over Serious Safety Risk Now
UPDATE: Ford has just announced an urgent safety recall affecting 163,250 Bronco SUVs due to a critical defect that could increase the risk of injuries during accidents. The recall impacts vehicles sold from 2021 to 2023, as confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The issue stems from potentially loose or dislodged height adjust pivot bolts in the front seats. If these bolts are compromised, the seats may not properly restrain occupants during a crash, significantly raising the likelihood of injury. Bronco owners are urged to be vigilant for any signs of front seat instability, such as squeaks, rattles, or looseness.
Ford will start contacting affected vehicle owners by mail on December 1, 2023, directing them to bring their SUVs to authorized dealerships for a free repair. This involves replacing the pivot links and bolts to ensure safety compliance.
For immediate assistance, owners can reach out to Ford’s customer service at (866) 436-7332 or the NHTSA’s safety hotline at (888) 327-4236 to verify if their vehicle is included in the recall.
This recall is part of a troubling series of issues for Ford in 2023. Earlier this year, the automaker recalled approximately 21,700 SUVs and sedans due to malfunctioning lights and turn signals, and over 273,000 SUVs were called back in May due to brake line issues that posed a fluid leak risk.
As Ford continues to address these safety concerns, it is crucial for Bronco owners to act swiftly. The impact of a compromised seat during an accident can be severe, making this recall a top priority for drivers. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
