City crews in Honolulu are currently installing a grand 55-foot Cook pine tree at Honolulu Hale, marking the festive beginning of the holiday season. This tree will serve as the centerpiece for the 41st Honolulu City Lights, set to open on November 29, 2025. The installation process began on November 5, 2025, as workers carefully maneuvered the tree into place, ensuring it stands tall in front of the municipal building.
The Honolulu City Lights event is a cherished tradition, attracting residents and visitors alike to celebrate the holidays. Each year, the event features a range of festive displays, including thousands of lights that illuminate the area, creating a vibrant atmosphere. This year’s celebration promises to be no different, with the towering Cook pine tree expected to be a focal point for festivities.
As city crews worked on the installation, an egret was observed nearby, seemingly taking an interest in the activities. The presence of local wildlife highlights the unique blend of nature and urban life that characterizes Honolulu.
The installation of the tree is a significant undertaking, involving coordination among multiple city departments. Public Works crews were on-site to ensure the tree is securely installed and adequately decorated in time for the event’s opening. The process includes the careful placement of lights and ornaments, which will enhance the tree’s visual impact during the holiday season.
Honolulu City Lights not only celebrates the spirit of the holidays but also fosters community engagement. Families and friends gather to enjoy the festive atmosphere, participate in various activities, and create lasting memories. The event has become a hallmark of the holiday season in Honolulu, showcasing the city’s commitment to fostering community spirit and joy.
As the countdown to the official opening continues, anticipation is building among residents who look forward to celebrating this beloved tradition. The combination of the majestic tree and the festive decorations will undoubtedly contribute to the city’s holiday charm this year.
