UPDATE: The beloved San Francisco Street Food Festival is BACK this weekend, marking a highly anticipated return after a five-year hiatus. Set to take place at China Basin Park on November 8 and November 9, 2025, this two-day event is a much-needed revival for the city’s vibrant food scene.

The festival kicks off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, running until 8 p.m., and continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year celebrates the 20th anniversary of La Cocina, the nonprofit kitchen incubator that has transformed the local restaurant landscape by supporting women, immigrants, and people of color in the culinary industry.

With over 25 La Cocina businesses participating, attendees can indulge in an array of flavors, from Nepalese momos to Palestinian flatbreads. Live music will be provided by Noise Pop, alongside local artisans and family-friendly activities, making this festival a must-see for food lovers.

Initially launched in 2009, the festival quickly grew from a modest gathering to a massive event attracting up to 100,000 visitors in its heyday. It has become a platform for numerous now-iconic Bay Area restaurants, including Bini’s Kitchen and Mister Jiu’s, helping over 50 chefs achieve self-sufficiency since its inception.

This year’s festival is intentionally smaller, focusing on community engagement rather than overwhelming crowds. General admission tickets are priced at $14.14 (or $12 plus fees), with free entry for children under 12. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from vendors, with small bites ranging from $6 to $12 and larger plates from $12 to $22.

Vendors include seasoned favorites like Binita “Bini” Pradhan and newcomers such as De La Creamery, collaborating with established names for unique offerings like vegan black tahini ice cream.

The festival’s return is particularly significant as San Francisco navigates ongoing challenges related to affordability and diversity in its food scene. La Cocina has been instrumental in shaping local regulations that support small-scale food entrepreneurs, creating opportunities for diverse, immigrant-driven businesses to thrive.

Located at 1 China Basin Park, the venue is easily accessible via public transport and bike. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as seating is first-come, first-served, and to prepare for a rain-or-shine event, with no re-entry allowed once you leave.

Don’t miss this chance to experience the rich tapestry of flavors and cultures that the San Francisco Street Food Festival promises to deliver!
