Her death marks a profound loss for her loved ones, especially following the passing of her devoted husband, Lambros G. Sotos, in 2014, with whom she shared an enduring bond of 52 years.
Born on December 14, 1936, in Neochori, Greece, Antigone immigrated to the United States in 1963. She built a life as a talented seamstress, notably working for Letisse, Inc., from 1963 to 1986, and later at Juliette Originals and Narrow Fabrics until 2002. Her journey is not just one of personal achievement but also a testament to her dedication to her family and heritage.
Antigone was deeply passionate about her Greek traditions, being an active member of the Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Reading. Her love for family was evident in the joy she derived from hosting lavish feasts, often surprising her grandchildren with elaborate seven-course meals during their visits.
She leaves behind three children: George L. Sotos, companion of Kelly Gahan in Doylestown; Fani L. Polyak, wife of James Polyak in Wyomissing; and Eleni L. Sotos in San Rafael, California. Antigone is also survived by five grandchildren: Samantha, Evan, Nicholas, Alexia, and Ajay, as well as siblings in Greece and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Church, located at 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, with Rev. Father Theodore Petrides presiding. Interment will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends and family can pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Church. The arrangements are being handled by Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. in West Reading.
Antigone G. Sotos’ legacy will undoubtedly live on through her children and grandchildren, highlighting the profound impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. Her dedication to family, culture, and community will be remembered fondly by all.
