Fairview Football Dominates Arapahoe 78-28 in Playoff Showdown
UPDATE: Fairview football delivered a stunning performance, demolishing the Arapahoe Warriors 78-28 in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs at Recht Field on November 14, 2025. This decisive victory highlights Fairview’s explosive offense and marks a significant milestone in their playoff journey.
The game kicked off with a competitive first quarter, where Arapahoe briefly led 21-15. However, the Knights quickly shifted the momentum, showcasing the talents of junior quarterback Ki Ellison and senior wide receiver Sabi Ruttgers. Ellison threw for 311 yards and rushed for 115 yards, while Ruttgers amassed an impressive 244 yards and scored five touchdowns.
“I always knew I was good, but this honestly proved it to myself and the state too,” Ruttgers stated. “Everyone said it’d be a close game, and we came out here and mercy-ruled them. It’s insane.”
Fairview’s offensive surge included standout performances from senior Toray Davis, who contributed three touchdowns, while teammates Asher Allen and Ryan Rutherford each added to the scoreboard. The Knights’ offensive prowess was complemented by critical defensive plays, including a pivotal interception by Ellison that shifted the game’s momentum in Fairview’s favor.
The first half ended with Fairview leading by 36-21, following a blocked punt that led to a touchdown pass from Ellison to Davis. Davis also made a crucial interception at Fairview’s 9-yard line just before halftime, sealing Arapahoe’s fate.
Head coach Tom McCartney expressed his respect for Arapahoe’s competitive league, stating, “They were obviously the No. 9 team in the state. There’s such a hunger for victory, and you really want to play the best teams.”
Looking ahead, Fairview will face the formidable No. 1 Cherry Creek next week at Stutler Bowl, raising anticipation for what promises to be another thrilling playoff matchup. With this dominating victory, Fairview has proven they are a force to be reckoned with, regardless of their regular-season schedule.
