Community Mourns Loss of Douglas Edward Greer, 38, in Elizabethton
The community of Elizabethton is mourning the loss of Douglas Edward Greer, who passed away on November 18, 2025, at the age of 38. Born on February 2, 1987, in Johnson City, Greer was known for his love of outdoor activities, including fishing, swimming, and playing pool. He was employed at Central Heat and Air and was an active member of Bramar Baptist Church.
Greer’s untimely passing has left a profound impact on his family and friends. He is survived by three children: daughters Emma and Gracie Greer, and son Jackson Greer. His parents, Daryl and Lois Lowe Greer, and sister Anna Lunsford, along with her husband T.J., also mourn his loss. He is remembered by his niece, McKinzie Lunsford, nephew Tyler Lunsford, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition, he is survived by two close friends, Ronnie Thornton and Zake Thornton.
Funeral Arrangements and Community Support
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on November 26, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Dean Presnell officiating. Following the service, interment will take place at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music during the service will be provided by Mike Presnell, adding a personal touch to the farewell.
The pallbearers for the service include T.J. Lunsford, Jearamy Ward, Jeff Lunsford, and Fred Julian, who were all significant figures in Greer’s life. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on the day of the service, offering an opportunity for the community to express their condolences and support.

Greer’s legacy lives on through his children and the many lives he touched during his time in the community. His love for family and friends, as well as his active involvement in local activities, will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
