Residents and visitors of Colquitt County can explore a variety of unique gifts this holiday season, supporting local artisans and businesses. With an emphasis on community and creativity, local markets are offering distinct products that capture the spirit of the region.

Specialty Gifts from Local Artisans

One of the standout items this year is the Downtown Moultrie Christmas Ornament, a beloved annual tradition. Each ornament features a design by a local artist, making them highly sought after as keepsakes. For 2025, the ornament showcases the Colquitt County CourthouseKolby DeMott created the design, inspired by a snowfall in January.

“In keeping with the winter wonderland theme, we wanted to do a courthouse with snow on it,” said Caroline Barber, Main Street manager for the City of Moultrie. “As the years progress, every time you hang it on your tree, you remember that special day.”

These ornaments are available for purchase at the Downtown Welcome Center and various shops around the square, but they tend to sell out quickly.

The Arts Center of Moultrie is also hosting its Fine Art and Fine Craft Holiday Market, running through December 19, 2025. This event features a range of handmade items from local artists, including ceramic bowls, wooden trinket boxes, and vibrant paintings. Supporting local artists not only provides unique gifts but also helps sustain their craft and creativity. The Arts Center is located at 401 Seventh Ave. S.W., and its hours are Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:30. For inquiries, contact (229) 985-1922.

A new retail destination, the Funston Market, offers an array of fresh, farm-grown products. Located at 153 W. Mulberry St. in Funston, this market specializes in fresh produce harvested from local farms. Co-owner Emily Watson expressed pride in revitalizing a beloved community space, formerly known as Allen’s Grocery. “Our goal is to support local farmers, strengthen our community, and bring you the best of what Georgia has to offer,” she stated.

The Funston Market also stocks locally raised beef and pork, in addition to holiday gift baskets filled with various regional products. Customers can find updates and details on their offerings through their Facebook page.

As the holiday season approaches, the emphasis on local shopping highlights the importance of supporting community businesses. By choosing gifts made or grown in Colquitt County, residents and visitors contribute to the local economy while promoting the unique culture of the area.

This year, consider sending holiday visitors home with a piece of Colquitt County, whether it’s an ornament to commemorate the season or a basket filled with fresh, local produce.
