Community Mourns the Passing of Gerald Joe Dale Brown at 78

Gerald Joe Dale Brown, a respected member of the Red Bluff community, passed away at the age of 78 on October 31, 2025. He died peacefully at home after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and leadership.

Born on July 29, 1947, in Red Bluff, California, Joe was the son of Maryalice Parker and Philip Brown. He spent his early years in Mineral before moving to Red Bluff during his adolescence. Joe graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1965 and went on to pursue a degree in Business Administration at Chico State University. While at university, he showcased his athletic talent as a member of the ski team, earning recognition for his exceptional skill in ski jumping.

After completing his education, Joe embarked on a successful career in the timber industry, where his dedication and hard work earned him considerable respect among his peers. Later, he transitioned to a management role with the City of Red Bluff, from which he eventually retired. His integrity and leadership qualities left a lasting impact on both his colleagues and the wider community.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Joe was known for his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and camping, and was an avid fisherman. His woodworking skills also flourished in his home woodshop, where he crafted various projects. Joe was a passionate supporter of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers, often sharing his enthusiasm for these teams with friends and family.

Joe is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Kevin and Ryan; daughter-in-law Monica; granddaughters Kaylee and Gracie; sister Christine Ramsey; and nephews John, Jim, and Jeff Thomas. He is fondly remembered by countless friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial gathering in Joe’s honor will take place at Wilcox Golf Club on December 12, 2025, at 13:00, followed by a selection of holiday desserts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joe’s name to the American Cancer Society, reflecting his enduring spirit and the values he championed throughout his life.
