Americus Welcomes Halloween and Fall Festival Fun
Americus, Georgia, embraced the festive spirit of Halloween and fall celebrations with a series of lively events that drew families and community members together. On October 31, 2023, Lee Street became a vibrant scene as trick-or-treaters of all ages showcased their creativity in a variety of costumes, while adults participated by handing out candy from their porches.
Susie Perry accompanied her two daughters and niece, who were dressed as a dead cheerleader, a dead bride, and a model. They expressed their enthusiasm for the annual tradition of trick-or-treating, highlighting the joy of dressing up. Similarly, Perri Cooper brought her children, who chose iconic characters Spider-Man and The Hulk, with candy corn emerging as a favorite treat among the young revelers.
In addition to the traditional trick-or-treating, Amazing Grace Church hosted a trunk-or-treat event that provided a safe and festive environment for families. Various decorated vehicles featured unique themes, and numerous games kept the children entertained. Pastor Randall LaRoche emphasized the event’s community focus, stating, “Trunk or treat is just a fun time for the family, and it’s our goal at Amazing Grace to get to know our community and do something for the community.”
Following Halloween, the festivities continued at Central Baptist Church, which organized a fall festival on the Sunday after Halloween. The event featured performances from local bands including those from The Well Church and Iglesia Christiana, creating an uplifting atmosphere with worship music. Families enjoyed a variety of offerings, from food trucks to inflatable attractions, ensuring plenty of entertainment for children. The evening culminated in a fireworks show that lit up the sky, providing a perfect ending to the fall festivities.
These events reflect the strong sense of community in Americus, bringing together families and friends to celebrate the season together. Each celebration not only provided entertainment but also fostered connections among residents, reinforcing the importance of community engagement during festive times.
