St. Joseph Mourns Loss of Marine Veteran Mark A. Canchola

Mark Anthony Canchola, a dedicated veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 63 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on June 1, 1962, Canchola is remembered for his honorable service and commitment to his country.

Canchola achieved the rank of Lance Corporal (LCpl) and served as a Freight Operations Clerk (Military Occupational Specialty 3111) during his time in the Marines. His military service exemplified a strong sense of duty and pride, qualities that defined his character throughout his life.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Catherine Canchola and Jessica Canchola, as well as their partners DeJuan and Phil. His grandchildren, Mikayla Canchola, Mariah Williams, Maleah Urbina, Elijah Clark, Ai’Vah Canchola, Giovanni Canchola, and Da’Vier Canchola, along with his great-grandson, Jaxton Monroe, are among those who will carry on his legacy. Canchola is also survived by his siblings, Dominic Canchola, Vincent Canchola, and Gloria Canchola (Teri).

Memorial Services to Honor Canchola’s Memory

The community will gather to honor Canchola at a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, scheduled for 10 a.m. on December 12, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Friends and family are invited to share their condolences during a gathering on December 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., also at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where a Parish Rosary will take place at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or The Crossing Outreach Ministry Food. These contributions will help support causes that were dear to Canchola’s heart.
