Celebrini Shines as Sharks Secure 6-3 Victory Over Flames
Macklin Celebrini showcased his exceptional talent on December 17, 2025, leading the San Jose Sharks to a resounding 6-3 victory against the Calgary Flames at SAP Center. Celebrini, who continues to impress regardless of his line combinations, contributed significantly with a four-point game, including a remarkable goal that delighted the crowd of 14,261.
The Sharks took control early, with John Klingberg scoring just 62 seconds into the match. Klingberg’s goal resulted from a no-look backhand pass, catching the Flames off guard. Celebrini’s contributions did not stop there; he assisted Barclay Goodrow on two separate occasions, including a crucial goal just before the first intermission.
In the third period, Celebrini demonstrated his skill by executing a dazzling play. After receiving a pass from Collin Graf, he spun past Flames defenseman Kevin Bahl and took a shot that hit the goaltender Dustin Wolf but deflected off Celebrini and into the net. This marked his 17th goal of the season and brought his points total to 50, making him only the third player in Sharks history to reach this milestone before the NHL’s holiday break, following Joe Thornton and Owen Nolan.
Celebrini’s performance has been remarkable, with ten points in his last five games, helping the Sharks to a 4-1-0 record during this stretch. His ability to produce points, regardless of his linemates, underscores his rising profile in the league. On this occasion, he played alongside Graf and rookie Igor Chernyshov due to injuries to regular linemates Will Smith and Philipp Kurashev.
Kurashev, who has had a solid season with 15 points in 31 games, is currently considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Smith’s condition remains uncertain after sustaining an injury in the previous game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky stated that Smith would be evaluated by the medical team, indicating that surgery is not yet being considered.
The Sharks established a 3-2 lead following the first period, with Goodrow netting both his goals at the 6:00 and 19:41 marks. His second goal came after a clever pass from Ty Dellandrea, who maneuvered behind the Flames’ net before setting up Celebrini for a quick shot. The puck trickled close to the goal line, allowing Goodrow to tap it in, marking his third goal of the season.
Klingberg’s early goal initiated a strong offensive performance, extending his point streak to five games, during which he has accumulated eight points. The Sharks’ ability to capitalize on opportunities against the Flames contributed to their overall performance, showcasing a depth of talent that will be crucial as the season progresses.
As the Sharks look to continue their winning momentum, Celebrini’s remarkable play remains a focal point for fans and analysts alike. His development as a player not only excites the Sharks’ fanbase but also signals a promising future for the franchise.
