Pedal Pub Proposes Year-Round Tours in Myrtle Beach

An international party bike company, Pedal Pub, has proposed to establish operations in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. During a city council workshop held on Tuesday morning, representatives from Pedal Pub presented their plan to bring a unique cycling experience to the coastal city. They are seeking support from the council to secure a five-year franchise agreement that would permit the operation of their Pedal Pub bikes near the iconic Skywheel.

Under the proposed agreement, the Pedal Pub tours would operate year-round, with rides commencing at 11 a.m. and concluding at 10 p.m.. Each tour would last for two hours, providing a lively atmosphere for participants. The planned route would primarily follow Ocean Boulevard between 9th Avenue North and 21st Avenue North, with a focus on utilizing back roads to minimize traffic disruptions. Notably, the tours would avoid any roads with a speed limit exceeding 35 mph.

The proposed tours are designed to enhance local tourism by stopping at various bars and attractions throughout Myrtle Beach, including the Arts and Innovation District. To maintain safety and compliance with local regulations, no alcohol or open containers would be permitted on the Pedal Pub vehicles. In support of this initiative, Pedal Pub has received endorsements from several local businesses and bars that anticipate benefiting from increased foot traffic.

The next step in the process involves the Myrtle Beach city council directing staff and legal teams to draft the franchise agreement for review. Following this, the council will hold a vote on the proposal, determining whether Pedal Pub can officially launch its tours in the area.

Previously, Pedal Pub successfully introduced its tours to Conway, demonstrating a track record of engaging community experiences. The introduction of this vibrant activity in Myrtle Beach could offer both residents and visitors a new way to explore the city while promoting local businesses.
