UPDATE: Belding Area Schools Superintendent Brent Noskey has received an impressive evaluation score of 99% out of 100%, as confirmed during a school board meeting on Monday. This evaluation marks a decade of his leadership in the district, underscoring his effectiveness in managing educational standards and community relations.

The Belding Area Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to accept Noskey’s evaluation, scoring him an effective rating based on multiple performance categories. Noskey achieved the highest mark of 3 in four out of five evaluation areas, only slightly missing in staff relations with a score of 2.86. The effective rating requires a score between 85% and 100%, which Noskey has consistently met throughout his tenure.

Board President Terry Boni praised Noskey, stating, “We found Mr. Noskey just as effective as he was before. So we are going to put this in the record as his score being a 99%. He did really well.” This strong rating reflects his commitment to fostering a positive culture and maintaining successful community engagement, vital for the district’s reputation.

Noskey’s leadership has been pivotal since he took over in 2016, following his previous roles as a teacher and elementary school principal. Over the past ten years, he has consistently received high evaluations, with Boni recalling no scores below 92%. “His relationship with the staff has really shined,” Boni added, emphasizing Noskey’s ability to hire the right people and create a supportive environment for students and staff alike.

In response to the evaluation, Noskey expressed gratitude, stating, “I’m obviously pleased with the evaluation. I know the board has some faith in me and supports me. We have a great board. That makes my job easier.” He attributed much of his success to the administrative team, highlighting their crucial role in achieving the district’s goals and improving visibility within the community.

Under Noskey’s leadership, Belding Area Schools has navigated significant challenges, including a decline in district-wide enrollment from 1,875 students in 2016-2017 to 1,652 in 2024-2025—a 12% decrease over nine years—while maintaining financial stability with a general fund balance of 15% to 20% of annual expenditures.

Noskey also noted that the supportive community atmosphere in Belding has been a driving force behind the district’s success. He remarked, “There’s something special about Belding. We’re small enough where we can live that family atmosphere on a day-to-day basis.”

Currently, Noskey earns a base salary of USD $157,725, with no changes to his contract following this evaluation. The consistent high ratings reflect not only his individual performance but also the collaborative spirit that exists within Belding Area Schools.

As the district moves forward, all eyes will be on Noskey to see how he continues to foster growth and maintain standards in the face of evolving educational challenges. This latest evaluation is a testament to both his leadership and the supportive framework within the Belding community, ensuring that the school district remains a beacon of educational excellence.
