Charlotte Hornets Crush Jazz 126-103, Utah Suffers Third Loss
UPDATE: In an explosive game, the Charlotte Hornets decisively defeated the Utah Jazz 126-103 on November 5, 2023, marking Utah’s third consecutive loss this season. The Hornets showcased a dominant performance, with Miles Bridges leading the charge with 29 points and Kon Knueppel contributing a career-high 24 points.
The Hornets, playing without key players Brandon Miller (shoulder subluxation) and LaMelo Ball (ankle impingement), found an unexpected spark from backup center Moussa Diabate, who delivered a crucial double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sion James, Knueppel’s former college teammate at Duke, also shone brightly with a career-best 15 points.
This game was never in doubt. The Hornets surged to a commanding 39-25 lead after the first quarter and extended their advantage to as much as 28 points before halftime, thanks in part to Knueppel’s aggressive play, which included making 4 of 9 from three-point range. Charlotte’s long-range shooting was on fire, sinking 12 of 26 shots from beyond the arc in the first half, while the Jazz struggled with just 4 of 20.
Despite a brief attempt at a comeback, where Utah narrowed the gap to 16 points nearing the end of the third quarter, Diabate’s hustle proved pivotal as he tipped in an offensive rebound at the buzzer, swinging the momentum back to Charlotte. The Hornets received a standing ovation for their performance, culminating in a comfortable victory.
Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with 29 points, and Keyonte George added 25 points, but it was not enough to overcome the Hornets’ relentless offense. The Jazz have now dropped three straight games, raising concerns about their early season performance.
The Jazz will look to regroup as they prepare to face the Boston Celtics on Monday night. Fans will be hoping for a turnaround as Utah seeks to break this troubling streak.
This latest defeat highlights the challenges faced by the Jazz as they navigate an unpredictable start to the season. Stay tuned for updates on their upcoming match and further developments in the league.
